Labour Market Priorities for Physicians: Express Entry

The province can choose qualified doctors from the federal Express Entry pool via the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities for Physicians Stream.

Skilled Worker

Foreign Employers and international graduates are the target audience for the employer-driven skilled worker stream. After receiving a favorable Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), employers who have been unable to fill vacancies with Canadian Citizens or permanent residents may access the stream.

Occupations in Demand

Nova Scotia’s Occupations in Demand Pilot targets intermediate-skilled jobs in high demand in the province. The pilot initially targeted nurse assistants, orderlies and patient service associates, and transport truck drivers.

Depending on labor market needs, the target occupations may change. It targets particular positions that fall under NOC C, the National Occupational Classification.

Physician

The Nova Scotia Physician Stream aids in the hiring of general practitioners, family doctors, and specialists by the provincial public health system. Its goal is to assist the province in recruiting for medical posts that it has been unable to fill with a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Entrepreneur

Candidates with prior experience in senior management or business ownership are targeted by the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur stream. They must reside in Nova Scotia, open a new company or buy an existing one, and be actively involved in running it on a daily basis.

International Graduate Entrepreneur

Similar to the Entrepreneur Stream, the international Graduate Entrepreneur stream is exclusively open to recent university or community college graduates from Nova Scotia. They must have established or acquired a Nova Scotia business and run it on Post Graduation Work Permit for a year.
